Craigslist Marketing is a great way to
get advertising for your retail store. If you are not familiar
with Craigslist, here are a few facts. There are over
10,000,000 unique visitors a day and over 300 cities and
regions listed. Your post is only good for only one city or
region.
In most cases, your cost to advertise on Craigslist would be
zero. There are a few areas in the country that do charge for a
few categories. The key to being successful with craigslist
marketing is to be consistent and follow the rules.
The two big rules deal with how often and where you can post.
You can not post the same ad more than once every 48 hours and
only to one city. Otherwise, your ad may be deleted for spam
either by Craigslist or by the users. However, this is easy
enough to work around.
Make up three different ads for whatever you want to advertise
or announce about your retail store. Make sure the titles are
different from each other. Once this is done post only one ad a
day. This way you will take 3 days before you post the same
ad.
Before you post the same ad, the original ad must be deleted
first. Once this is done, click on the ad and repost it once
again. This will get you to the top of the listings on a
regular basis.
Craigslist does well in Google Search Engine Results. For
example on August 30th, 2007 using the keywords
quitting business sale
I had six of the top 9 results. Several were from my Craigslist
postings. However, if you do not keep reposting your listing,
your rankings will drop.
Craigslist posting would be great for huge sales, special
events, and getting traffic to your website. If you have not
started to post ads on Craigslist, you should start today to
take advantage of this free advertising.
Here is a bonus suggestion. You could post an ad on Craigslist
that would sound more like a press release than an ad. You
probably will not get flagged by the posters and can get high
search engine results on Google.
